Wendell Brunious is the best trumpeter of his generation playing traditional jazz in New Orleans today. We first met him in person at a Jazz Festival in Germany in the early 1980s and immediately tried to bring him to Europe as our guest. Unfortunately for us at that time he was involved in a business project in the USA which did not allow him more than a couple of days every now and then to go on tour. So we postponed our idea until in December 1990 we heard that he had given up the business project and was free for January, so we immediately arranged a short tour and a recording session in conjunction with Timeless Records. The tour was, as expected, a great pleasure. Wendell being not only a fine musician but a Gentleman to boot! This album is the result and we hope it leads to many more! Chris Barber
